Where your data sits during an engagement
The work happens in your tools, not ours. We are tool-neutral: we start with the AI tools you already pay for, and can include European options where data sovereignty matters to you. Your people build, with their AI assistant doing much of the work, while we teach, coach and measure.
The Fusion AI Value Tracker, where teams log time-consuming work and record the hours given back, runs inside your own AI workspace (your own Claude organisation). Depending on your contract, your organisation buys it outright or licenses it; the terms are agreed with you. Either way it runs in your workspace, with no lock-in.
To be plain about it: during an engagement we will see what your people show us, such as task descriptions, hours logged and meeting notes. What that may include is decided in the data rules you agree with us at the start, and contract terms and data rules are agreed with your legal and IT teams.
Your people's AI assistant is part of the picture too. Whichever one your organisation uses (for example Claude, Microsoft Copilot or Google Gemini), it processes what your people put into it under your organisation's own agreement with that provider. Emails and notes you send us sit in our own Google Workspace, as our privacy policy describes.
Would it help to walk through the data rules with your IT team before we talk about anything else? Book a free AI Value Briefing and we will look at it with you.
What we will not do
- Monitor or rate people. We never use AI to monitor or rate individuals. Value is reported for tasks and teams, not as a score for a person.
- Sell or reuse your data. Our privacy policy states that we do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
- Lock you in. What your people build stays in your organisation, and the tracker runs in your own workspace under the terms of your contract.
What this website collects
If you request an AI Value Briefing, we receive what you type into the form: name, work email, organisation, role, country, organisation size, sector, your topic and message, and how you heard about us. We keep it for up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless a business relationship follows. Contract records are kept for 5 years and accounting documents for 10 years, as French law requires.
The site sets no cookies and uses no advertising, analytics or social media trackers. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical records (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and secure the site, and your browser contacts Google when it loads the site's typefaces.
Who processes it, where, and your rights
The data controller is Synapse Photonics SAS in France, applying the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act. Our service providers are Google (email, storage and fonts), Netlify (website hosting) and Anthropic (the AI assistant Claude, which we use under its commercial terms to help prepare our work; under those terms it does not train its models on our content). They may process data in the United States; our policy explains the safeguards for these transfers.
You can ask to see, correct, erase, restrict or move your data, object to its use, or withdraw consent, by writing to jacques@synapse-photonics.com. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL. The full details are in our privacy policy.
Certifications: whose we rely on
Synapse does not hold security certifications such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2, and we do not offer audits or insurance-backed promises. We would rather say so plainly.
Instead, we rely on your organisation's own certifications and controls. The work runs in tools your IT team has approved, under your security policies, and the contract terms and data rules are agreed with your legal and IT teams before any work starts.
Questions to ask any consultant, including us
- Which tools will our data go into, and who approved them?
- Will any of our data be copied to your own accounts or systems?
- Do the AI tools' settings allow the vendor to use our inputs for training, and who checked?
- Will anything be used to monitor or score individual staff?
- Who are your service providers, and in which countries do they process data?
- When the work ends, what stays with us and what leaves with you?
A good answer is specific and written down. If the answer is vague, ask again.
What to do next
- List the AI tools your organisation has approved and what data each may receive, before any pilot or consultant starts.
- Ask every AI consultant the six questions above and keep their written answers with the contract.
- Check the data and training settings of your own AI tools with your IT team (see Field Guide 10).

Talk it through with us
Your IT and legal teams set the data rules first, the work runs in tools you already control, and everything your people build stays with you.
